The Perfect Wedding Dress Silhouette for Your Figure

One of the biggest decisions you'll make about your wedding day (besides who you're going to marry) is what you're going to wear.  With so many styles of wedding dresses to choose from it can be overwhelming to decide which will look best on you.  We've put together a list of the most common wedding dress silhouettes and what body types they look the most flattering on, in order to give you a starting point in your search.

A-Line

An A-line wedding dress is fitted at the hips and gradually widens towards the hem, giving the impression of the shape of a capital letter A.

This style of dress is flattering for body shapes such as petite, apple, pear and full figure.

Mermaid

A mermaid style wedding dress fits closely to the body through the torso and hips, then “fishtails” out in a flare to the floor.

This style of dress is flattering for body shapes such as hourglass and tall & thin.

Empire

An empire wedding dress has a fitted bodice ending just below the bust, giving a high-waisted appearance, and a gathered skirt, which is long, and loosely fitting but skims the body rather than being supported by voluminous petticoats.

This style of dress is flattering for body shapes such as hourglass, petite, apple, pear and full figure.

Ball Gown

A ball gown wedding dress is often considered the most formal type of dress, and traditionally has a full skirt and fitted bodice.

This style of dress is flattering for body shapes such as tall & thin, apple, and pear.

Sheath

A sheath wedding dress is a fitted, straight cut dress, often nipped at the waistline with no waist seam.

This style of dress is flattering for body shapes such as hourglass, tall & thin and petite.

There is a wedding dress out there for everyone, and the perfect dress is the one you feel the most beautiful in.  What wedding dress silhouette do you prefer?
